Incidents

Resources

Resources represent the elements that are essential to your business (servers, applications, sites, machinery, ...). Incidents and crises are attached to them to track their health.

Resources represent hardware or software elements that are essential to your business: a server, a database, an application, a physical site, or even a piece of construction machinery. Incidents and crises can be attached to these resources, so you can track how their health evolves and know, at any time, which resources are impacted.

Resources are managed from the main Organization tab, then Resources.

Resource categories

A resource belongs to one of the following three categories:

  • IT: messaging, directory (LDAP/AD), database, application, server, or any other custom IT type
  • Location: a physical site or location (office, warehouse, factory, ...), positioned on a map
  • Custom: any other resource specific to your business (for example a transformer or a tunnel boring machine)

Each resource also has a name, a description, an icon and a color (to identify it easily), as well as at least one tag.

Attaching incidents and crises

The link between a resource and incidents is mainly made through tags: if at least one of an incident's tags is part of the resource's tags, the incident is automatically linked to that resource. You therefore only need to set the right tags when raising an alert (through your integrations) for the impacted resources to be identified. The page of each resource also shows, in its Integration panel, the field to include in your API calls to link it automatically.

You can also, manually:

  • link a resource to an incident or a crisis (from the resource page, or from the incident or crisis page)
  • unlink an incident or a crisis from a resource
  • declare a new incident or a new crisis directly from the resource page

The resource page

The page of a resource shows:

  • its current state: the active incidents and crises (open or acknowledged) linked to it
  • its history: the past incidents and crises that impacted it
  • its details: category, type, description, tags, position (for a location)
  • the suggested teams: they are pre-filled when declaring a crisis on this resource

Access rights

Only Owners can create, edit or delete resources. Owners and Responders can link or unlink incidents and crises.
