In addition to the on-call schedule used for incidents, each team can have crisis on-call schedules. They let you always know who must be mobilized when a crisis is triggered: the crisis actions and notifications are then addressed to the person on call.
Crisis on-call schedules are accessible from the main Teams tab, by selecting a team and then the Crisis on-call menu.
Note: Crisis on-call is a beta feature. Contact Astry support to enable it for your organization.
Creating a schedule
Creating a schedule takes a few steps:
- Rotation: the duration of each on-call shift before handing over to the next member. It is free (in minutes, hours, days, weeks or months), with shortcuts for 1 day, 1 week, 2 weeks or 1 month.
- Start: the date and time of the first rotation, which is also the handover time.
- Sub-periods (optional): the rotation can be split into named sub-periods. For example, a 7-day rotation split into 5 days (Weekdays) and 2 days (Weekend): each sub-period then has its own rotation.
- Members: the members taking part in the rotation, and their order.
- Summary, with a preview of the upcoming handovers.
Adjusting the schedule on the calendar
Once the base rotation has been created, the schedule is adjusted directly on a calendar (week, 2-week or month view):
- drag a person onto a slot to replace someone, or onto an empty period to add them
- stretch a slot by its edges to change its duration, select several slots to edit them at once
- swap two slots between two people
- replace a person in the rotation, remove them, or add a new member to the rotation from a given date
- define off-duty periods, recurring or one-off (for example weekends): nobody is deliberately on call during these periods
Changes are made on a draft (with undo and redo), then published in one click. Astry flags the upcoming periods with nobody on call: they must be filled before you can publish. If someone else publishes the schedule while you are editing it, Astry warns you so you don't overwrite their changes. The publication history keeps track of all changes.
Each person receives a push notification when their on-call shift starts.
Note: Crisis on-call schedules are edited from a computer: on mobile, as well as for users who don't have the required rights, schedules are available in read-only mode.
